Non Electrical Wiring

Tuesday 7 May - Signal Engineering Department Report

Following many months of installing, terminating and testing new wiring for the Phase 2 work at Ropley, last Thursday saw the installation of new wiring of the non-electrical kind by Bob Howes and Tony Buttle.

The photo shows the first of two steel wire runs connecting Ropley box with shunt signals at the at the London end of the platform.  This is the first major use of the newly supplied wire that has been difficult to source.  Bob Howes poses with the wire to the shunt signal protecting the yard at Ropley. Just another nine new signals to go with two of them, the new Outer Home signals, requiring very long signal wire runs of just over half mile each.
