‘The Railway Children’ to come to life at Watercress Line this summer

A live performance of E Nesbit’s classic story ‘The Railway Children’ is full steam ahead to be held at the Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line this summer, as Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre heads out on tour.

The captivating play, which tells the story of Roberta, Peter and Phyllis as they get up to adventures surrounding the steam railway near their home, is a brand new musical adaptation and will take place at the Watercress Line’s Ropley station on 18 and 19 August.

We will be working with the Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre on its production of The Railway Children. This will be the first time we have had an open-air theatre production here at the Watercress Line, and we’re encouraging people to bring picnics and come along for a wonderful family afternoon.Showing such an iconic tale about the nostalgia of steam railways surrounded by the real sights, sounds and smells of our railway will be a truly immersive theatrical experience for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Performances will be held at 12.15pm and 2.15 pm on both Friday 18th and Saturday 19th August. Click here to book tickets and for more information.
