Watercress Line

Due to the COVID-19 emergency the Watercress Line Mid Hants Railway is temporarily closed to the public. The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our most important consideration. You will know that the Watercress Line relies on ticket revenue to cover its operational costs, which currently work out more than £75,000 a month. Without money coming in from running services, the railway is eating into its financial reserves to survive. If you can help, please click on the Virgin Money Giving link below which allows you to donate a single amount or pay monthly if you're able to. You can also text WATERCRESS to 70085 to donate £10, texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message. Thank you for continuing to support us during this unprecedented situation. We hope to be able to welcome you back to the Watercress Line soon.

Day Out With Thomas returns to wow crowds at the Watercress Line this summer

19 June 2019

The world’s favourite blue tank engine will be putting smiles on children’s faces across the region as the hugely popular Day Out With Thomas returns to the Watercress Line this summer.

The heritage railway will play host to Thomas and friends from 3 - 11 August 2019, bringing a day of fun, activities and entertainment for all the family.

The sweeping duo Rusty and Dusty will return, following a fantastic debut at Easter, bringing a whole lot of mischief with their cheeky storytelling and magic performances to wow the younger visitors and entertain grown ups alike.

Not only will visitors have the chance to meet Thomas, they will also have the opportunity to enjoy unlimited trips behind the famous engine as well as the Watercress Line’s home fleet and miniature railway.  Plus, the Fat Controller will be poised to greet everyone, topping off a host of photo opportunities on offer throughout the day.

Families can make a day of it with a host of food options and the hugely popular vintage fairground rides, Dobbies and chair-o-planes, at Ropley Station.

Easter was a huge success and we’re delighted that Thomas will be returning to the Watercress Line this summer.  We’ll have Thomas and his friends here every day for nine days bringing lots of excitement for families in the area and we look forward to welcoming everyone.
