Watercress Line

Coronavirus / Covid-19 Update

Our priority during the Coronavirus / Covid-19 outbreak, and the railway's closure, is on meeting our running costs. We need around £75,000 per month. Without this income, within a relatively short period we will exhaust our reserves which are so important us for our long term plans.

Although these are difficult times for all of us, we are asking you to consider providing financial support to the railway. With your support, ideally through a monthly standing order, the railway can be in a safe and good position to move forward rapidly when circumstances allow.

The amount is up to you as everyone’s circumstances are different, but please give as generously as you can. One-off donations would also be welcomed.

Thank you.

Visit our donation page to make a monthly gift or donate a single amount.

You can also text WATERCRESS to 70085 to donate £10. Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message.

Join Santa on a magical train journey with the Watercress Line this Christmas

The hugely popular ‘Santa Specials’ event at the Watercress Line is already selling fast, with some trains fully booked - visitors are being encouraged not to delay purchasing their tickets.

The steam locomotive will chuff into town this Christmas, giving families the chance to travel across the heart of the English countryside in a festive train carriage with Santa and his jolly helpers on the 30th November and various dates throughout December.

Every child on board will receive a gift from Father Christmas as well as a soft drink, gingerbread man and activity pack to keep them entertained on this enchanting one-hour journey, while grown ups will be treated to white wine and mince pies.
Guests of all ages are also asked to bring their very best singing voices to join in with everyone’s favourite Christmas songs too!

It’s one of the only Santa experiences where families don’t need to queue, and we love seeing children’s faces light up when Father Christmas visits them in their seats and delivers presents.

The festive spirit will continue at the Watercress Line after Christmas, with its popular Christmas Leave also set to return on 26th-27th December. Join civilian and military re-enactors and experience the atmosphere of a WWII Christmas on the railway, listen to live 1940s music, enjoy an ARP display, play wartime games and much more.
