Watercress Line

Due to the COVID-19 emergency the Watercress Line Mid Hants Railway is temporarily closed to the public. The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our most important consideration. You will know that the Watercress Line relies on ticket revenue to cover its operational costs, which currently work out more than £75,000 a month. Without money coming in from running services, the railway is eating into its financial reserves to survive. Technical Vacancies at the Watercress Line

We are currently looking to recruit various skilled technicians and apprentices for a new project.

4 x Advanced Apprentices:
  1.Carpenter Carriages
  2.Sheet Metal Worker / Fabricator
  3.Boilersmith
  4.Machinist
Applicants should be able to demonstrate considerable existing skills in their chosen discipline and will ideally have served a previous apprenticeship.
Positions 1& 2 are three year placements, positions 3& 4 are two year placements.

2 x Starter Apprentices:
  Carpenter Carriages
  Sheet Metal Worker / Fabricator
Applicants should have some basic technical skills which they will develop during this 2 year placement.

Boilersmith
Fixed 2 year contract
Applicants must be able to demonstrate extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of steam boilers.
