Coronavirus / Covid-19 Update
Our priority during the Coronavirus / Covid-19 outbreak, and the railway's closure, is on meeting our running costs. We need around £75,000 per month. Without this income, within a relatively short period we will exhaust our reserves which are so important us for our long term plans.
Although these are difficult times for all of us, we are asking you to consider providing financial support to the railway. With your support, ideally through a monthly standing order, the railway can be in a safe and good position to move forward rapidly when circumstances allow.
The amount is up to you as everyone’s circumstances are different, but please give as generously as you can. One-off donations would also be welcomed.
Visit our donation page to make a monthly gift or donate a single amount.
You can also text WATERCRESS to 70085 to donate £10. Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message.
I have volunteered in the Alresford Information office for over ten years, and have really enjoyed meeting lots of different people and helping to solve their many issues. It’s a pleasant and happy environment in which to work and makes you feel part of the railway family.
I am the third of 4 generations to volunteer and to me the Railway is a huge part of my family, providing laughter and support in equal measure - plus I get to spend my time around steam trains! I have been regularly volunteering for over 20 years, with my children now finding their own special home on the line. I am often found behind a till but also enjoy a variety of other roles, including co-ordinating the volunteers on the Santa Specials for the last few years.
I have been a Watercress Line volunteer for over ten years now and thoroughly enjoy my operational roles of signalman and station foreman. Helping our visitors to enjoy their experience on our railway by keeping them safe, giving them a warm welcome and providing them with useful information and an attractive environment around the railway, gives me a huge amount of personal satisfaction.
